Liebherr Recalls Built-In Refrigerators Due to Injury Hazard — Door Can Detach (2011)
Recall Overview
In July 2011, Liebherr USA recalled approximately 580 built-in refrigerators because the refrigerator door could detach from the unit, posing an injury hazard to consumers. The hinge connecting the door to the cabinet could fail, causing the door to fall.
Liebherr received 3 reports of doors detaching. No injuries were reported. The affected refrigerators were sold by authorized dealers from September 2009 through June 2011 for between $5,000 and $9,000. Consumers were advised to contact Liebherr for a free in-home hinge replacement.
