LG Recalls Dehumidifiers Due to Fire Hazard (2015)
Recall Overview
LG Electronics, along with Sears, recalled approximately 466,000 dehumidifiers due to fire and burn hazards. The units could overheat, produce smoke, and catch fire. LG received approximately 146 reports of incidents, resulting in about $2.6 million in property damage and one minor burn injury.
The dehumidifiers were manufactured between 2010 and 2013 and sold through various major retailers. Consumers were instructed to immediately stop using them, unplug, and contact LG for a full refund.
