GE Recalls Dishwashers Due to Fire Hazard (2012)
Recall Overview
On August 9, 2012, GE Appliances recalled approximately 1.3 million dishwashers. GE received 15 reports of heating element failures, including seven fires, three causing extensive property damage. No injuries were reported.
The dishwashers were sold from March 2006 through August 2009 for between $350 and $850. GE offered either a free in-home repair or rebates toward a new GE dishwasher.
