Frigidaire and Kenmore Smoothtop Electric Ranges Recalled Due to Fire Hazard (2009)
Recall Overview
On August 27, 2009, Frigidaire recalled smoothtop electric ranges with rotary knobs and digital displays. Frigidaire received 126 reports of incidents, including four reports of minor burns and two reports of minor property damage.
The recall involved approximately 200,000 units sold from June 2001 through August 2009 for between $1,000 and $2,500. This recall was later reannounced in May 2024 due to continued incident reports.
