Expanded Recall of Thermador Built-In Ovens Due to Fire Hazard (2010)

Recall Overview

In July 2010, BSH Home Appliances expanded its recall of Thermador built-in double and combination ovens due to a fire hazard. The oven’s heating elements could turn on unexpectedly during the self-clean cycle, posing a fire risk. The expanded recall covered approximately 40,000 additional units.

BSH received 41 reports of incidents, including 6 fires that caused minor property damage and 1 report of a minor burn injury. The ovens were sold at specialty appliance stores and authorized dealers from January 2002 through September 2009 for between $2,500 and $5,000.
