Bosch and Siemens Dishwashers Recalled Due to Fire Hazard (2009)
Recall Overview
In June 2009, BSH Home Appliances Corporation recalled approximately 463,000 Bosch and Siemens brand dishwashers due to a fire hazard. A wiring defect inside the dishwasher could overheat and ignite nearby materials. BSH received 15 reports of incidents including 5 fires that caused property damage. No injuries were reported.
The recalled dishwashers were sold at retail stores and by authorized dealers nationwide from January 1999 through May 2009 for between $400 and $1,500. Consumers were instructed to stop using the dishwasher and contact BSH for a free in-home repair.
