Amana Freezers and Refrigerator-Freezers Corrective Action (1979)
Recall Overview
On November 22, 1978, CPSC and Amana reannounced a recall program for side-by-side refrigerator-freezers manufactured between February 1969 and September 1974. This was a follow-up to the original August 1977 voluntary repair program for about 240,000 units.
Amana reported that 96,000 owners had already been contacted, but approximately 144,000 owners still needed to get in touch with the company. The affected models were SR17, SR19, SR22, SR25, SD19, SD22, and SD25, with serial numbers beginning with the letters IS, E, B, L, A, or C.
